TopoScript 2 was a custom Topo II control software developed in mid-1997 by Thomas Cantrell for Windows '95.[1]

History[edit | edit source]

Thomas would develop TopoScript 2 to control his personal Topo II robot, though not much is known about its development.

The software would be distributed in June of 1997 on Thomas' website, Topo II's World, under the name Dry Ice Productions. One demo would be provided called Topodemo in the form of Topodemo.mid and Topodemo.tpo. Documentation and tutorials would also be provided around this time.

It seems other users were using the software at some point as mentioned on the site, though nothing made in the software was distributed on the site. Thomas stated he would be willing to write software for Topo I and Topo B.O.B if he ever acquired the robots, though it seems this never happened, and these addons would not be produced.

Specifications[edit | edit source]

The software seems to have ran off of MIDI files and a ".tpo" script file. It is unclear how this software formatted its data, and what relations it had to the original TopoSoft specification. It is likely this was built from scratch from disassembling protocols given by the Topo II IR Unit.

System Requirements[edit | edit source]

  • Topo II, along with its IR Unit and its DB9 to DB25 IR Cable
  • A DB25 Female to Female Serial Cable
  • A Window's 95 PC with a DB25 COM Port
